Star City Birmingham Information
For those of you that don’t know, Star City Birmingham is considered to be the ‘Midland’s premier family leisure and entertainment Centre’ – and to be honest, that’s a pretty fair assessment! Even if it was by the owners of the Star City themselves!
When was Star City Birmingham opened?
When it was opened in 2000 by none other than the Hollywood legends that are George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg – the Star City centre broke a few records. Not just for being one of the largest leisure complexes in the whole of the UK, but also for having (at the time) the largest cinema in Europe! And where better to have such an exciting place for a day or/and night out as Birmingham – often regarded as being the heart and soul of the country!
What will I find at Star City Birmingham?
The use of Star City Birmingham has continued ever since their doors opened back in 2000 – to the extent that they further re-developed some of the facilities. When you’ve got a leisure complex the size of Star City Birmingham, you’re expected to pretty much have everything! And they’re certainly getting there! Aside from a range of foods from all cultures of the world that would certainly please everyone (Indian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, American and Italian restaurants) they have swanky bars to rival a great night out you’d get from heading into Birmingham city centre.
What activities and entertainment is currently available?
Before that though, there’s again activities that would suit all needs of a family or group of friends – I can guarantee that at least one of the activities available would be able to put a smile on everyone’s faces!
At the time of writing, Star City Birmingham currently has:
- (still!) one of Europe’s largest Cinemas with 25 (yes.. 25!) screens – ‘Vue Cinema‘
- England’s largest indoor Adventure Golf complex – ‘Adventure Island Mini Golf‘ (which was opened in 2008)
- a ten pin Bowling Alley, with 22 lanes – ‘Megabowl‘
- a purpose built all-weather 5-a-side Football Centre – ‘Goals Soccer Centre‘
- a huge open plan Gym – ‘Virgin Active Gym‘
- a Laser Quest game – ‘Laser Station‘
- a Climbing Centre for all of the family – ‘Twin Peaks Climbing Centre‘
- large Casino – ‘Genting Club’
- family Fun Zone – ‘Free@Last Family Fun Zone‘
Is there anything else that happens at Star City throughout the year?
And they’re just the things that are happening all year round! Star City Birmingham regularly have funfairs and fireworks when the season dictates – but obviously these are periodic so you really need to be on the ball to make sure you haven’t already made arrangements and can attend these events! Adding to that the fact that previously Star City Birmingham has been the host to popular entertainment events such as Chinese State Circus and Cirque De Soleil – provides you even further evidence that you really should give this complex a try!
If you weren’t fortunate enough to go and see the Chinese State Circus, here’s a short clip of exactly what you missed out on!
Let’s face it, if the totally unexpected happens and you can’t please everyone in your group, Star City Birmingham is only 10 minutes from the city centre! But, let’s be honest, it won’t ever come to that
